Job Description

Reporting to the Chief of People (based in lm groups Head Office in Switzerland), the HR Manager has ultimate responsibility for HR activities in the UK.  This role leads a small team and will be ideally suited to someone who has experience working in an international business environment, who is operationally focused with a confident, experienced and strategic approach. 

This role is suited to someone who is used to working in a stand alone role, but has been exposed to matrix organisations. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational HR skills.  This role may require some travel to Switzerland and Italy where the Company headquarters are located when business travel resumes.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage complex employee relations cases, providing specialist advice and support to the business

  • Advise managers on terms and conditions of employment, share best practice and use knowledge and experience to drive decision making

  • Develop HR policy and procedures in the countries managed to drive performance and mitigate disputes implementing change where required.  

  • Lead a small team to manage operations, payroll, recruitment and people services (facilities).

  • Work in conjunction with the international People Team uniting in the HR strategy and supporting when required in various projects e.g. Career Journey 

  • GDPR sponsor for the wider HR team

  • Performing any other HR related duties/HR related projects as assigned or when requested

Qualifications

Leading a small team, this role is ideally suited to someone who has experience working in an international business environment, who is operationally focused with a confident, experienced and strategic approach.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive operational HR experience

  • Experience of working in a stand-alone role, but familiar to receiving input/direction from other colleagues

  • Experience of working in an organisation with an overseas Head Office

  • Prides themselves on them and their team offering excellent customer service

  • Extensive ER experience, especially with restructures; exits; acquisitions; TUPE

  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and best practice

  • Able to work in cross-cultural environments

Desirable:

  • Line management experience

  • Exposure to working in an international HR team

Abilities/Qualities:

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Self-motivated and effective at managing one’s own time

  • Confident in managing upwards (in particular, within cross-cultural environments); knows when to escalate issues/queries to Chief of People

  • Works to deadlines with a can-do attitude

  • Uses initiative & is a problem solver

  • Familiar with using Gmail; Google Hangouts; Google Docs
