Job Description

Reporting to the Chief of People (who is based in LM’s Head Office in Switzerland), the HR Manager has ultimate responsibility for generalist HR activities for our German Office based in Munich, Berlin and Essen. 

This role is suited to someone who is used to working in a stand alone role, but has been exposed to matrix organisations. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational HR skills. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and oversee operational activities of HR in Germany to ensure timely execution:

    • management of the integration of new employees

    • monitoring of absences, management of outings/maternity leave,

    • relations with social organizations

    • HR data reporting

  • Recruitment:  total management of the recruitment process, publication of advertisements, interviews, coordination with internal operational staff, school relations

  • • Payroll administration and coordination of the relationship with our external partner: entry of absences, sending of variable elements, verification and control of payroll, annual tax declarations

  • Manage and advise international colleagues on best practice and DE legislation with regards to escalated employee relations cases (i.e. restructures; exits; small scale acquisitions). Awareness that this role will be guided on any change programmes by Head Office. 

  • Apply HR knowledge to queries from line managers and employees, evidencing appropriate decision-making skills. 

  • Where applicable, advise line managers and employees on terms and conditions and/or HR best practice. 

  • In line with DE employment legislation changes draft/update relevant policies and ensure roll out across the business. 

  • Work in conjunction with the global People team, support and roll out global HR initiatives directed from Head Office 

  • Where required, participate in drafting/sense-checking of global HR related communications 

  • Manage the relationship with external payroll provider 

  • Perform any other HR related duties/HR related projects as assigned or when requested.



  • Extensive operational HR experience.

  • Experience of working in a stand-alone role, but familiar to receiving input/direction from other colleagues.

  • Experience of working in an organisation with an overseas Head Office.

  • Prides themselves on them and their team offering excellent customer service.

  • Strong understanding of DE employment law and best practice.

  • Able to work in cross-cultural environments.


  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Self-motivated and effective at managing one’s own time. 

  • Confident in managing upwards (in particular, within cross-cultural environments); knows when to escalate issues/queries to Chief of People. 

  • Works to deadlines with a can-do attitude.

  • Uses initiative & is a problem solver.

  • Familiar with using Google Suites
